Here's a look at foreshortening in three progressive steps. Note the shortening of the arm as it swings toward the reader, and how the definition lines in the arm begins to show more and more overlap as the arm comes closer toward us (the viewer).

I drew this for my book, "HUMAN ANATOMY MADE AMAZINGLY EASY," published by Watson-Guptill, the art imprint of Random House.

Ok, if this is incorrect, I don't know which one to use. Because I found this foreshortening tutorial and I STILL can't foreshorten.

This is really useful, especially the tips on the musculature. Thanks for sharing it!

I bring you yet another example of anatomy gone extremely wrong by the ever-terrible Christopher Hart.

If he drew a woman, she'd need to be fail!sexy on top of everything else, so let's count some blessings

I agree. That is not how foreshortening works.

I have your book (not only this one) in German and have done a few sketches of my own based on it, they grace my wall so that I deal with them on a regular bases to get better used to anatomy. There is even a "drawn quote" from your book in my gallery... by far no comparison to the original but rather drawn after it. Thank you for your outstanding work, very helpful!
